Why wait for your own Princess X95 to be ready for delivery in another year or two when you can walk through a real main deck in just a few weeks? Princess Yachts will allow you to do exactly that in mid-January, at the Düsseldorf boat show. The British builder is shipping a real-size Princess X95 mockup from its shipyard, so that existing customers and potential buyers can experience the spaces. More so, the builder wants clients to better appreciate how the megayacht’s general arrangement reportedly rivals that of a 115-footer (35-meter).
The boat show, starting January 18, will see true yachts and megayachts at the Princess display, of course. These include the Y78 and Y85. While the Princess X95 is a flying-bridge model like those two, her styling and interior arrangements are different. These, in turn, lead the shipyard to consider her a “superfly.” In fact, thanks to cooperation with the Olesinski and Pininfarina design studios, “The X95 breaks the mold of traditional yacht design,” asserts Antony Sheriff, the yard’s executive chairman.
It’s due to the open-plan general arrangement, through which boat-show visitors will be able to walk. You can walk through not just the interior, but the exterior, too. Sheriff says the real-size Princess X95 mockup proves there’s 10 percent more alfresco space and 40 percent more interior space than similar-size megayachts offer. Part of this is due to the beam of 22’3” (6.77 meters), of course. But, it’s also due to how the available overall space is used.
Clients with contracts will sit down with the Princess Design Studio personnel to select the room arrangements. They can also choose the woods, fabrics, and other materials they want. The real-size Princess X95 mockup has unobstructed views from the aft-deck entry straight through to the huge country kitchen. For prospective customers, other Princess staff, from the shipyard, will be on hand to discuss the yacht’s main features and details.
Since the X95 is a semi-custom project, naturally buyers can change that main-deck arrangement. One optional layout, for example, puts the master suite fully forward. It doesn’t push the galley below decks, however. Rather, the galley becomes a sort of show kitchen in the saloon. Regardless of where the master goes, three guest staterooms sit below decks. Buyers also get a choice between a tender garage and an intimate beach club fully aft below decks.
Fitting her “superfly” description, the megayacht should see speeds between 24 and 26 knots under MAN power.
