“Over 70 percent of the world is covered with water, and we want to cover it all. With that, video is the best way to bring across the message and to show people what magnificent creations yachts are.” That’s how Christian Moore, co-founder of Superyacht TV, describes this new television station steadily reaching enthusiasts worldwide.
A first for the megayacht market, Superyacht TV intends to educate a global audience about the industry as well as the yachting lifestyle. Programming falls into six categories: yachts, destinations, life onboard, events, tenders and toys, and the creators. While Superyacht TV started broadcasting in January, it did so as a soft launch. With the Monaco Yacht Show starting next week, the station is making its presence known more prominently.
Currently, the channel reaches satellite-TV viewers in Monaco, the UAE, and the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa). You can also watch via the Superyacht TV app as well as on its website. The programming team intends additional satellite TV reach throughout Europe and the UK next year. “We are aiming to give a broad scope and as much visibility as possible to the industry,” Moore explains.
Moore may be famous for being the son of the late actor Roger Moore, but he’s also a filmmaker in his own right. He is a producer and associate producer for several documentaries, for example, having done so over the past 20 years. Joining Moore in co-founding Superyacht TV is Patrick Coote, who previously worked with Blohm+Voss and Fraser Yachts.
Superyacht TV offers a mix of industry-sponsored videos available on demand as well as live feeds of programming. So, for instance, you may go on a tour of a megayacht for a few minutes, then check out an interview with a shipyard chief or designer. You can also virtually travel to Antarctica, then Papua New Guinea. Check out yachts available for sale and charter, or see superyachts taking shape in shipyards.
The team intends to add much more programming during the Monaco Yacht Show and beyond.
