A private ceremony celebrated the launch of Life Saga at The Italian Sea Group last week. Measuring 213 feet (65 meters), the megayacht is among the biggest boats from the builder to date.
While she is a custom project, Life Saga draws largely on a concept. In fact, The Italian Sea Group initially presented the concept, termed C Force, at an event during the Monaco Grand Prix in 2012. Exterior design came from Uniellè Yacht Design, with the shipyard’s own Admiral Centro Stile for naval architecture. C Force featured stacks of windows through three decks, additionally using large panes of glass throughout for a light-filled atmosphere. In addition, fold-down platforms and balconies benefitted the owner’s party of 12, accommodated mostly below decks.
As is often the case, the owner of Life Saga brought his own ideas to the table. Some stemmed from his experience owning a smaller, same-named yacht. (She’s a 138-footer/42-meter from Heesen.) Given the larger size, though, a number of room arrangements come from having far more decks—five in total—to personalize. For instance, the VIP suite is on the main deck, rather than the lower deck. When needed, it can become two staterooms, too, since it has a sliding partition between the sleeping area and a private sitting area. The master suite still sits forward on the main deck, as the shipyard originally imagined. But, multiple, taller sets of ports complement it to each side, a switch from the initial styling. Plus, a second master sits on the upper deck. For all to enjoy, Life Saga gained a side-launching tender garage for a custom 25-footer (7.5-meter) as well.
In conjunction with Mark Berryman Design, the owner and guests cruising aboard Life Saga have a warm ambiance to enjoy. Photos are not yet available, though the look largely comes from naturally stained woods like walnut and oak, as well as complementary tones and textures. The megayacht further has a Zen-like look and feel, through subtle incorporation of Asian accents.
The Italian Sea Group anticipates Life Saga seeing a maximum speed of 15.5 knots under Caterpillar power. Sea trials should follow shortly.
