Stretching 262 feet (80 meters) in length, the Sea Flower yacht project is still in the concept stage. However, The Italian Sea Group sees the proposal as the next step in bringing aesthetically pleasing and technologically advanced solutions to superyacht customers.
Traditionally, megayachts of this size feature steel hulls and aluminum superstructures. The Sea Flower yacht concept follows suit. Increasingly, too, shipyards are offering customers more environmentally minded systems aboard. This often means diesel-electric propulsion systems, although a few builders have fuel-cell-equipped yachts in development. Additionally, some shipyards are encouraging the use of biofuels. The latter has no detrimental impact on typical engines, or their performance. The Italian Sea Group has not elaborated on what specifically it plans to do onboard this new design. For now, Giovanni Costantino, the founder and CEO of the group, simply says, “Sea Flower is going to be a breathtaking and futuristic megayacht, carefully conceived with an eye to environmental sustainability.” He further says, “Our goal is to continue to invest in revolutionary aesthetic and technological solutions to propose disruptive product lines that dictate the new stylistic standards of luxury yachting.”
The two design studios involved in the project, however, do hint at some of what the eventual owners can anticipate. Those studios are Luca Dini Design and Studio Fuksas. While superyacht clients are well familiar with Luca Dini Design, Studio Fuksas has its roots in land-based architecture. The husband-and-wife team behind the studio have designed grand convention centers, hotels, as well as furnishings and accessories. In fact, they have collaborated with Poltrona Frau and Zeus for furnishings. Together, the studios say the overall design draws much inspiration from nature, especially the marine world. Furthermore, the interior design will reflect fresher thinking about how owners and guests can enjoy being amid the marine environment.
When a customer signs a contract, the Sea Flower yacht will be part of the Admiral line of motoryachts.
