Dating to the 18th century, Teatro La Fenice is a famous opera house in Venice, Italy. In fact, it’s among the most famous theaters in the entire country. Its extraordinary design details and equally extraordinary world premieres inspired Tankoa Yachts and Enrico Gobbi – Team for Design to create a new series. The 223-foot (68-meter) Tankoa T680 Fenice combines bold design with hosting memorable experiences the world over.
Even though Tankoa Yachts has enjoyed success with its S501 series, recently splashing hull four, the management team believes it’s important to continue offering different styles with different designers. It additionally believes each series should have its own engineering platform. To the latter point, the Tankoa T680 Fenice relies on twin Caterpillars for a half-load top speed of 16½ knots. Best range at 12 knots should be 5,000 nautical miles.
Boasting a volume of about 1,400 gross tons, the Tankoa T680 Fenice blends curves and smooth lines from the aeronautical and automotive worlds. Simultaneously, the superyacht sets a new standard for the shipyard in providing owners and guests with unexpected alfresco areas. For example, the main deck’s open-air aft lounge is the center of life onboard. Spanning 1,076 square feet (100 square meters), it’s multi-level, too. An infinity pool, a gym, a spa, and abundant seating space cater to the owners’ party of 14. Further unexpected, a glass-topped section in the center of the pool is essentially a pathway pointing toward the sunken beach club. Naturally, fold-down platforms to each side in the beach club make the area more enjoyable.
Enjoyable, too, the Tankoa T680 relocates the formal dining area to the upper deck, in a circular style connected to the alfresco lounging area. This opens more space for the main saloon (above)—plus for guest staterooms to benefit from main-deck views. Specifically, two VIPs and four guest staterooms all lie forward.
With a beam of 37 feet (11.2 meters), the new Tankoa yacht project continues surprising below decks. Besides containing the crew cabins and galley, it’s home to a hospital room.
“I believe that superyacht projects of this size have to be distinctive: born from a blank sheet of paper,” explains Enrico Gobbi. Giuseppe Mazza, Tankoa’s sales and marketing manager, says the design and build teams hit it off immediately. “Like her namesake, the T680 Fenice is a triumph of poise, rhythm, and grace.”
