With her owner looking on, the yacht Barbara Anne lowered into the water in Italy on April 23. She’s a few short weeks away from treating guests to staterooms adorned with colors made famous by the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini.
Barbara Anne is hull number six in the DOM 133 series. In fact, hull number five, the yacht Astera (below), splashed just last month. The all-aluminum 133-footer (nearly 41-meter) reflects the same styling as all of her predecessors, notably including a vertical bow and bulwark cutouts. However, she also borrows a space-pushing feature directly from Astera, that being the relocation of main-deck ventilation ducts to outside. This therefore permits using full-height glass along her port side, making the interior much brighter and more inviting.
Actually, the yacht Barbara Anne borrows another idea from Astera. On the upper deck, two full-height windows are doors leading out to balconies. To date, these two megayachts are the only ones in the Baglietto DOM 133 series with balconies.
When the guests have watched the last lick of sun drop beneath the horizon and are ready for bed, special treats are in store. The owner collaborated with the designer Leonardo Santi to outfit their staterooms in Ferrari red, green, and blue. Lamborghini orange is yet another prominent tone in their below-decks cabins. If they poke their heads into the wheelhouse while the yacht Barbara Anne is underway, they’ll see sports-car nods, too. The grill insets are unmistakable. They combine with a bronze-toned carbon fiber ceiling.
Bronze and cream colors carry throughout the interior, complementing bronze finishes and pale wood. LEDs are inset into the wood as well, particularly along the central stairway. The lighting inserts pair with striped wood, interestingly, with a grand custom chandelier topping the entire stairway. Altogether, the interior design is quite contemporary, while remaining comfortable and welcoming.
Although not racy like the colors or wood striping, the beach area is an attention-getter. It spreads over two levels, with an infinity pool. Guests will notice that the yacht’s logo adorns the bottom of the pool, too. They also get a second pool (more of a hot tub) on the sundeck, entirely custom designed and built. When the main pool isn’t in use, the bottom can rise level with the rest of the main deck, increasing space for lounges or gatherings.
Sea trials should confirm a top speed of 17 knots. She’ll have transatlantic range at 15 knots.
