If you visit a particular yard in Ancona, Italy, you may glimpse a glossy-white exterior and rich-wood interior. Wider is readying this first Wider 150—its first superyacht, too—for launch in a few days.
The 151-footer (46-meter) has completed a few milestones. Stainless steel handrails rim the upper deck, contoured to match the curve of the superstructure. Fully outfitted, the guest staterooms below decks show off wood, leather, and more. The Wider 150’s master suite is ready, too. Leather (hand-stitched) covers the walls, and white marble lines the en suite bath. Additional stonework flows throughout the megayacht.
As for systems, the diesel-electric propulsion passed another important series of tests. Emerson Industrial Automation, which helped create it, performed checks onboard. It is reportedly satisfied with the results. Emerson performed initial tests as well, back at its own facility, before sending the system to Wider for installation. Both Wider and Emerson expect sea trials to confirm that the 150 can top out at 15 knots and achieve 5 knots in zero-emission mode (battery power alone).
One of her biggest highlights is the beach club, measuring nearly 969 square feet (90 square meters). Due to the folding platforms on three sides, it’s larger than the beach clubs aboard other 150-foot-range megayachts. Note, too, the inclusion of a pool in the beach club. It’s filled with seawater, formed when the tender is floated out.
