UPDATE, JUNE 17, 2015: Heesen has created a new video showing off Project Kometa’s specialized alfresco and interior spaces, ranging from an aft deck waterfall to the capacious beach club:

A little over a year after Project Kometa, Heesen Yachts’ largest megayacht to date, started construction, her hull and superstructure have been joined together.
The keel laying for Project Kometa took place in October 2013. Back then, Heesen referred to her simply as YN 17470. The Dutch shipyard has been shooting video of all the major stages of her advancement, even her engine tests at MTU’s headquarters. The video below, starting around the 35-second mark, shows how the aluminum superstructure of Project Kometa was gently lowered onto the steel hull, and how the now-one structure was transferred into her finishing shed.
Project Kometa measures nearly 230 feet (70 meters), fitted with the proven Fast Displacement Hull Form that Heesen has incorporated on recent deliveries. The hull design promises 20 percent better fuel efficiency compared to same-size yachts with traditional displacement hulls. It should also allow her to see a reported 30-knot top speed—impressive for a yacht of this LOA.
Even with styling by Espen Øino, Project Kometa looks from every angle a Heesen build. She’ll have some extra features all her own, including skylights above the pool. Inside, Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design is using wenge and leather on walls, marbles, and tones of blue and green to give the owner the ambiance he and his family desire.
We’ll have to wait until 2016 to see the end result. However, Project Kometa will feature a main-deck cinema, plus two alfresco areas that set a cinema-like atmosphere. One will be aft on the upper deck, complete with two large TVs. The other: the sundeck. Other highlights of Kometa: four doubles for guests below decks, an upper-deck VIP stateroom, and a main-deck master suite. Of course, the megayacht will have a beach club for everyone to enjoy. Contained inside will be a steam room and a lounge with a bar.
If you’ve never seen a yacht literally come together, watch the delicate operation unfold.
