Although megayachts span a significant size range, a significant number of builds, both semi-custom and fully custom, are around 130 feet (nearly 40 meters). That helps explain why the three Westport 135/41M yachts that just began construction, on spec, should sell.
Westport has long had a mix of on-spec and customer-commissioned projects. This particular series is still somewhat new. In fact, the first Westport 135 debuted in November (below). She’s further the successor to the Westport 125 series, which premiered in 2016. Not merely a little larger, though, the Westport 135/41M series employs an emissions-reducing Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) treatment system. This fuel-additive system allows the superyacht to comply with international environmental regulations. Since the tanks containing the fuel additive are quite bulky, they would have made the existing 125’s engine room too crowded. Additionally, Westport might have needed to take some floorspace away from the nearby guest staterooms.
The Westport 135/41M yacht series provides friends and family—eight in total—with comfortable, king-size suites. These ample accommodations are especially noteworthy. Most superyacht builders and designers focused on this size range primarily give guests twins or queens, or a mix of the two.
Yet another feature that clients will enjoy is the beach club. Interestingly, the Westport 125 was the Washington State builder’s first to include this leisure space (below).
A constant for Westport is providing customers with shallow-draft yachts so that they can enjoy the Bahamas. The six-foot (1.83-meter) draft for this series keeps the sunny, sandy shores within easy reach. So, too, does a range of 2,500 nautical miles.
The delivery dates for the three new spec builds haven’t been announced, although they should be within the next two years.
