You might need to reassure young ones in your family that the yacht Night Fury II poses no danger if you come upon her in your travels. Night fury happens to be a dragon species in the animated movie How to Train Your Dragon. In this case, only humans will be amid the decks. In fact, the people who will cruise on her celebrated her launch ceremony in Italy last week.
Night Fury II is the first launch in the Columbus Atlantique 43 series, which Columbus Yachts announced two years ago. The 141-footer (43-meter) is actually one of a few sizes in the Atlantique range, all of which blend classic sailboat styling with Italian sportscar styling. The sailing influence is especially noticeable in the transom design, which mimics the traditional scoop shape of those yachts. To another degree, the soft curvature of the transom is much like that of a shell, or a water-shaped stone. This is all according to Columbus Yachts and Hot Lab, the design studio responsible for the exterior lines.
The duo also envisioned owners and guests using the deck area just beyond the transom quite a lot on cruises. As evident with the yacht Night Fury II, the center of the activity is a pool, nestled into an aft-facing C-shape settee. Additionally, the bulwarks to each side fold down. Better yet, the entire area is just shy of 20 inches (50 centimeters) above the water. It feels connected to another aft-facing observation area and dining area near the saloon entry, too, thanks to terraced steps.
The owners of the yacht Night Fury II worked with Hot Lab for the interior as well. They requested four staterooms below decks for guests (five are possible for the Atlantique 43 series). Two are VIPs, while the other two are twins. Crew, meanwhile, have a total of four cabins, each with their own bath.
The owners should put the megayacht’s anticipated 14½-knot cruising speed to good use this summer, since she’ll be in their hands by then. They’ll further have an 18-foot (5.5-meter) tender to enjoy. It stows in a side garage to starboard, aft. Two PWCs stow with the rescue tender fully forward.
In the meantime, Columbus Yachts has two more Atlantique 43 projects in build for customers.
