An American couple who met the team at Mulder Shipyard nearly two years ago just celebrated the launch of their yacht Q43 from its facilities in The Netherlands. They’re the latest among a growing number of Americans to become customers, too.
The yacht Q43 (which shares her name with a commuter bus in New York) is hull number seven in the Mulder ThirtySix semi-custom series. The series made its debut in 2017, going on to include deliveries like Calypso (below) and, just last year, Seaflower. They all therefore feature a volume just shy of 300 gross tons and accommodate 10 guests in five staterooms. Additionally, this 118-foot (36-meter) series boasts a beach club with a wetbar and TV. Given its proximity to the water, the beach club further serves as the tender and toy boarding and disembarking area.
The owners of the yacht Q43 visited Mulder Shipyard shortly after meeting the staff during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in 2022. The hull arrived for outfitting in April 2023. Similar to previous customers, the couple collaborated with Vickers Studio for the interior design. Details unfortunately are not available at this point on the woods, stones, and other materials throughout the project.
Sea trials should confirm a top speed of 17 knots and most economical cruising speed of 11 knots. Mulder says that at 11 knots, the series burns less than 21 gph (80 liters per hour).
Delivery is set for May. Q43 will make her yacht-show debut at October’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. First, however, her owners plan to take her to Norway for some summertime cruising and exploration. She’ll then make her way stateside.
In the meantime, the eighth Mulder ThirtySix, for sale, has an enhanced interior décor. The shipyard tapped the Amsterdam-based designer Roelfien Vos to lend a heightened elegance that is still practical for families.
