The raised pilothouse is an enduring yacht design, especially in the United States. That advantage, though, is also a disadvantage: Most are the same as they were 20 years ago. The Burger 120 Raised Pilothouse Motor Yacht, however, offers a refreshing change of pace. In fact, a handful of decidedly different design features benefit you and your guests as well as your crew.

You’ll appreciate just how much more enjoyable the personalization process, and ultimately cruising, is because of how the design and build teams suggest engineering her. For instance, the all-aluminum megayacht can have Volvo Penta IPS propulsion. The four 1,000-hp D13 IPS 1350 units require less space—overhead clearance and square footage—than traditional diesel engines. On a related note, an independent mechanical room, a rarity for her size and a first for Burger, can occupy the bow. It has direct walk-in access from the crew’s quarters, too.

The handy notion extends to the two-level flying bridge. While a few builders and designers offer similarly split decks, what you don’t see here is as important as what you do. Specifically, the yacht incorporates healthy under-deck stowage for kayaks and small watertoys, plus additional needs. Accessed via a big hatch, it extends far beneath the dining/lounging area of the flying bridge. Aft, meanwhile, the flying bridge serves double duty. First, it’s the boat deck, capable of carrying a 20-foot Novurania plus a PWC. Second, it’s the sunning area, featuring a hot tub and a full-width aft seating area. The seating, by the way, hides the davit for the tender and toys.
The Burger 120 Raised Pilothouse Motor Yacht, with a beam of 25’7” (7.8 meters), has accommodations for 10 to 12 in five staterooms. Your master suite sits forward on the main deck, naturally, while four guest staterooms, two further with Pullman berths, are below decks. Add in crew’s quarters (including a good-size crew mess) comparable to the guest-cabin floorspace, and owners mindful of crew comfort will be pleased.
