The number of true explorer yachts from Cantiere delle Marche is growing. The shipyard has signed a Nauta Air 111 for a Latin American client intent on spending abundant time aboard. He’s an ardent underwater photographer who also plans to engage in marine-animal study and other scientific research.
This new Nauta Air 111 will bear styling and interior design by Nauta Yachts, responsible for the yard’s Nauta Air series. Cantiere delle Marche has tapped an interesting naval-architecture firm for the yacht: Vripack. It’s a fitting first-time collaboration between the two. Vripack is renowned for its work on global cruisers, particularly five yachts that have traversed the challenging Northwest Passage.
Vripack reveals that the Nauta Air 111 will include a bulbous bow. She’ll further have enhanced hull scantlings and beefed-up rudders for safe travels in ice. “The dedication of the CdM team in building their growing fleet of explorers certainly got our attention in the recent years,” says Marnix Hoekstra, director of Vripack. “We’re proud to now become part of their professional group which share the vision that this world is meant to be discovered still, and that yachts are the best tool for that job.”
Vasco Buonpensiere, partner and sales manager for Cantiere delle Marche, echoes this sentiment. “A shipyard like ours focuses on yachts which cruise intensively and extensively for months, exploring the most remote areas of the oceans. Working with our friends at Vripack was therefore a natural evolution for us.”
No details about the interior arrangement or decor are yet available. However, the accommodations for this Nauta Air 111 should prove comfortable. It’s due to a nearly 26-foot (8-meter) beam and 330-gross-ton displacement.
