It’s funny how a yacht with styling that’s so polarizing can actually unite a group of her builder’s and designer’s peers.
The yacht known simply as A garnered an International Superyacht Society Design Award last week, beating out fellow nominees Anastasia, Dilbar, Eminence, and Madsummer, all of which are arguably more traditional in appearance. But that’s the beauty (no pun intended) of the competition: It takes into account innovative, even cutting-edge design elements, among other criteria.
And A certainly is innovative. Even if her look isn’t to your taste, I think you’ll agree that she is the very embodiment of custom construction. No cookie cutter looks, and likely something we’ll never see repeated.
A and the rest of the nominees in various-size power and sail categories were evaluated by 15 of the megayacht industry’s leading naval architects, builders, and brokers. That peer evaluation is what many of the winners cite in being proud – and even humbled, as in the case of CMN’s deputy manager, Thierry Regnault, and Andrew Winch Designs’ founder and owner, Andrew Winch, who walked away with two awards, as you’ll see in this full list of the winners:
