Three hundred and 12 feet (95 meters) of pure bliss. The family behind the Feadship Bliss surely felt that way upon the launch of their new yacht, upon which they plan to travel the world.
Every custom yacht is years in the making, from initial planning and design to construction. This project, which started as Feadship hull number 1009, is no different. In fact, the principal owner dove right in to the learning and collaborating processes, according to his representative as well as the Feadship team at its Makkum facility. “The client embraced every opportunity to play a role,” confirms Albert Abma, the in-house project manager. “He also thoroughly enjoyed meeting the craftspeople and learning about our processes at the yard. Bliss really is a Feadship built with as well as for her owner.”
Part of the learning process involves technical aspects, such as propulsion. The Feadship Bliss has a hybrid system permitting an expected top end of 17 knots. Additionally, she should see a range of 6,000 nautical miles while at a 12-knot cruise. The propulsion system and further technical aspects tie in to the megayacht meeting Polar Code certification requirements, too. Briefly, this certificate requires taking into account not only navigating in extreme conditions, but also minimally impacting the Polar Regions while operating there. Therefore, the diesel-electric propulsion system offers the option of avoiding running on fuel and minimizing emissions. A dynamic-positioning system also helps her “anchor” in deep water and station-keep.
For the family’s comfort while cruising here and elsewhere, the Feadship Bliss has a voluminous-feeling interior. High ceilings help achieve this. The principal owner and designer Rémi Tessier strove for a natural yet still-luxurious look throughout the nine staterooms, the lounges, and the wellness area. Outside, meanwhile, the Feadship Bliss affords the family plenty of fun time and play time, from a big pool to the double-duty sports and games deck and helideck.
