Get ready for more megayachts at the Yacht & Brokerage Show, coming up in February. Superyacht Miami is the name of an additional in-water venue at the Miami Beach Marina, south of the primary show.
Superyacht Miami is the response to a long-standing request from exhibitors. The Yacht & Brokerage Show was established 25 years ago on the Indian Creek Waterway in Miami Beach (above) for builders and brokers to exhibit large yachts and megayachts. Show Management, which created the show and now co-owns it with the Florida Yacht Brokers Association, is also the owner of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. An extra megayacht-focused show in South Florida therefore made sense.
Even with it occupying a mile-long stretch of Collins Avenue, though, the Yacht & Brokerage Show (the green pin on the map) has always had obstacles. Most megayachts larger than about 154 to 155 feet (47 meters) and the vast majority of sailing superyachts can’t exhibit due to the Indian Creek Waterway’s depth and width, plus the presence of fixed bridges. The Miami Beach Marina, located at 300 Alton Road (the blue pin on the map), does not have those restrictions. Therefore, the Superyacht Miami extension of the Yacht & Brokerage Show, both running from February 13 to 17, will accommodate megayachts and sailing superyachts to 250 feet (76.2 meters), the maximum size the marina can handle.
So far Superyacht Miami will see the brokerage firms Burgess, Camper & Nicholsons, HMY, Northrop & Johnson, Merle Wood & Associates, and Worth Avenue Yachts as exhibitors. Transportation will be provided to take visitors from the Collins Avenue displays to Superyacht Miami, too.
Superyacht Miami may cause some confusion, however, due to the name. Less than a month ago, the show Superyacht Lifestyle Miami was announced. That show, being held the same dates, is owned by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA). The NMMA further owns and operates the concurrently held Miami International Boat Show and Strictly Sail. The NMMA is producing Superyacht Lifestyle Miami with the U.S. Superyacht Association, the International Superyacht Society, and other megayacht-focused companies.
