Amid the custom sailing superyachts in build at Perini Navi, one particular spec project is less than two years from completion. She’s the Perini Navi yacht Project 605, a 154-foot (47-meter) sloop. Aficionados of the builder will find a number of features that meet expectations, along with a few that may take them by pleasant surprise.
Firstly, the yacht Project 605 represents a redesign of the Perini Navi 47M series of the past. She still has the signature sugar-scoop transom, of course, along with the Perini Navi-developed systems that make short-handed sailing simpler. But, she’ll bear a carbon fiber mast, instead of an aluminum one. It will stand 205 feet (62.6 meters) tall, too. Additionally, she’ll be more voluminous than most sailing superyachts in her category, with a gross tonnage of 385.
That volume means the Perini Navi yacht Project 605 naturally is oriented toward more comfort. A few of the social spaces particularly stand out. For instance, the customarily closed sailing-superyacht transom is instead fully open to the cockpit. It’s a lot like a multi-level beach club from a motoryacht, with two levels of sunbeds. Plus, swim steps deploy off the edge of the transom for convenience. The cockpit, meanwhile, is ideal for breakfast or other meals on the hook. It’s large enough to accommodate all eight people who can stay onboard, along with a few extra friends.
Since the cockpit is often the alfresco center of social activity, the Perini Navi yacht Project 605 augments it with a welcoming indoor-outdoor lounge area just forward. It looks and feels like an extension of the cockpit. It’s shaded by the flying-bridge overhang and partially open air due to sloping glass to each side.
Because the accommodations spaces are yet to be in place, buyers have full reign over how to arrange the interior. For example, a five-stateroom arrangement is available, although a more capacious four-stateroom arrangement is also possible. Regardless, the master suite can have a semi-private study, which the shipyard can further equip with its own head. Perini Navi has both a suggested general arrangement and interior-design renderings for interested buyers to review as starting points. The interior ideas follow current trends of neutral, warm colors to better complement abundant light streaming in through large windows.
Delivery can take place within 22 months from contract signing, since the hull and superstructure are finished. The asking price is €39.5 million (about $42.9 million at press time).
