Semi-custom and fully custom superyachts reflect your design tastes throughout the decks. As much as design has evolved, remote controls and/or tablets for TVs, blinds, and more remain as bulky as ever. VBH, the audio-video specialist working with more than a dozen megayachts on average each year, has a solution. Alchimia – The Collection is a line of furniture that makes them all disappear, but still remaining available at your fingertips.
VBH has been working on the technology behind this for the past several years. In fact, the company officially began offering it to designers and architects last year. Owners therefore could listen to music and watch movies, for instance, without seeing speakers, and screens would be invisible when off. (On a related note, the same service has been available to designers of private residences and hotels.) However, Alchimia was a custom service.
Realizing more owners would want to preserve the aesthetics of their yachts, VBH has created Alchimia – The Collection for pre-designed pieces. You can still request custom finishes and overall furnishings, of course. From natural stone panels to wood shelves and wood paneling, a variety of solutions are available. Ceramics are available, too. Regardless, the tech remains invisible until you touch it.
Jeroen van den Hurk, CEO of VBH and founder of the Alchimia brand, says Alchimia will still offer entirely custom solutions. The Collection provides convenience and personalization quicker and simpler, for designers and owners. “The flexibility of these two different offerings ensures that with Alchimia, architects and interior designers can meet the specific needs of any project,” he explains.
