Owners hire project managers and owners’ representatives to be their eyes and ears on site for practical reasons. But, some still like to keep tabs on work being performed on their yachts. If that describes your approach, MB92 Group has spent the past two years developing a client portal that you’ll appreciate. The Bridge by MB92 lets you keep tabs on refit and service no matter where you are.
The company, which in 2022 introduced its Refit for the Future service for sustainable solutions, wanted to offer owners’ teams a single resource for updates. Briefly, the portal not only consolidates critical information, but also provides users more control over their projects. “We opted to develop this platform in house rather than relying on off-the-shelf solutions,” explains Rubén Carmona, MB92 Group’s director of I.T. & Digitalization. This way, Carmona says, the Bridge by MB92 is tailor-made to the shipyards’ operations and client feedback over the past three decades.
Following testing by several clients, the portal currently offers several features. Firstly, it permits real-time monitoring of work progress and budgeting. It also serves as a centralized communications platform, bringing all messages, notifications, and project-related reports together. Furthermore, you and your team can use it to request work quotations, and MB92’s team can respond accordingly. Finally, the portal provides an easier method to register warranty claims.
MB92 says further features will become part of the portal in the future.
Dean Smith, a director at Hampshire Marine, is among the people who tested the Bridge by MB92. In fact, he says, his team used it over the past year at MB92’s yards in Barcelona, Spain and La Ciotat, France. “At first (we) were hesitant of another platform,” he confesses. “However, we quickly realized that all the contract data was in one place for us to review.” What’s more, Smith continues, “the logging of accepted works versus quoted pending allowed better evaluation of the project workload and budget performance.”
Another tester is a captain of a 148-foot (45-meter) Feadship. The captain, who wishes to remain anonymous, is impressed with the “centralized communication and efficiency for critical project components.” Since the Feadship will return to MB92 at some point, the captain adds, “I expect this system to continue developing and look forward to experiencing the results.”
The bottom for MB92, according to Carmona, is “ensuring peace of mind for our clients.”
