In checking out the tenders and toys aboard a megayacht, chances are you’ll find at least one Sea-Doo watercraft. One of the company’s newest PWCs, the GTX Limited, is collecting awards. Given the truly innovative features onboard, it’s easy to see why.
First, the GTX Limited is a three-seater PWC that can convert for multiple uses. You can reconfigure the rear seat, in fact, so that the driver and one passenger can face each other. While this means only two people would be sitting on it, it is pretty cool. Sea-Doo suggests reconfiguring the seat to enjoy a picnic lunch while you’re bobbing in place on the water.
You can take that picnic lunch with you thanks to the big stowage compartment, too. Better termed a cargo compartment, it’s beneath the handlebars. It’s big enough to stash all sorts of stuff inside. What’s more, you can reach it without straining while you’re seated. All of these make it an industry first. This easy-access stowage helped earn the GTX Limited the prestigious Innovation Award from the National Marine Manufacturers Association earlier this year. It also recently earned the PWC the “Ski of the Year” title from Watercraft Superstore.
Similarly, the GTX Limited earned accolades from both organizations for its LinQ accessory system. Briefly, this lets you attach a variety of accessories to the swim platform. (That swim platform, by the way, is noteworthy itself. With a teak-like look, it’s large enough and stable enough for two riders to sit on, without tipping the waterbike.) Snap on an extra fuel tank, a cooler, even a retractable ski pylon. More options are available, too.
The final industry first: a waterproof Bluetooth sound system. In combination with eight-inch speakers, you can play your favorite tunes all afternoon long.
Of course, fun features like these are for naught if the PWC isn’t comfortable. Sea-Doo designed the GTX Limited hull with a lower center of gravity, for better stability. It’s also wider than that of other PWCs, for the same reason. Furthermore, Sea-Doo engineered the GTX Limited for expert riders and novices alike to feel comfortable taking the handlebars. Newbies will especially appreciate the iBR system, Intelligent Braking and Reverse. It’s a true brake, recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard as a smart safety feature.
Pricing starts at $15,899.
