While the Sanlorenzo X-Space is new, the ideas behind this 144-footer (44-meter) are not. The megayacht embodies the spirit of exploration, primarily through owners spending abundant time onboard. Simultaneously, the yacht expresses the spirit of more classic Italian navettas, traditionally styled leisurely cruisers.
The five-deck, 495-gross-ton X-Space offers the amenities that owners and guests of all walks of life prefer. For instance, tenders and toys stow in a side-launching garage. Multiple decks contain alfresco lounging and dining areas aft, with unobstructed views to three sides. Inside, meanwhile, guest staterooms sit below decks, and social spaces spread across the upper levels.
To cater to customers yearning to see the world, the Sanlorenzo X-Space provides an entire owners’ deck. Specifically, the upper deck contains not just the sleeping area—with glass walls—but also a living room and a study. Furthermore, the suite leads out to a private 323-square-foot (30-square-meter) sunning area forward. It includes sunpads and a pool. This owner-exclusive deck is more typical of larger yachts, especially ones where owners spend weeks to months at a time onboard.
This was the inspiration for Zuccon International Project, responsible for styling. “I think it has never been so important as it has in this project to seek to identify with the owner, who will be the great commander of this boat,” explains Bernardo Zuccon. He adds, “The X-Space project was born with the desire not to create a wonderful floating structure, but to create a wonderful vessel for life.”
Along those same lines, the glass walls in several areas, including guest staterooms, enhance living onboard. Piero Lissoni, the interior designer, says, “The interior has forced its hand on the exterior, and the exterior has been so elastic and so well designed that the interior has almost adapted itself in a totally natural way.”
A prime example is the expansive aft deck. Sanlorenzo and Lissoni each consider it an open-air living room, due to its dimensions and connection to the interior living area. A 194-square-foot (18-square-meter) infinity pool sits centrally right at the transom. While the X-Space is at anchor, the transom can fold down for more usable space. Further usable space comes from opening balconies to each side of the pool level. In fact, the “living room” gains an extra 194 square feet when they deploy.
The first hull is already in build, for delivery in 2023.
