First Sanlorenzo 62 Steel, Cloud 9, Delivered: Photo Gallery

At nearly 202 feet (61.5 meters) LOA, the Sanlorenzo 62 Steel Cloud 9 is certainly large. Her volume of 1,300 gross tons confirms it, too. However, due to her owner’s experience and the flexibility of the shipyard and Francesco Paszkowski Design, the yacht retains a warm intimacy.

Launched in June, the five-deck megayacht is hull number one in the 62 Steel series. Similar to the 64 Steel, Sanlorenzo and Paszkowski’s studio deliberately chose features contrary to tradition. For example, the owners’ suite sits on the upper deck. The deck is exclusively for the owners, too. Envision waking up (below) to 180-degree views through the floor-to-ceiling glass. Even better, take them in from the 1,507-square-foot (140-square-meter) alfresco area forward, with a pool (above). Aft, meanwhile, the sky lounge becomes an exclusive games and TV area, with an alfresco dining area just beyond it.

Further contrary to tradition, the Sanlorenzo 62 Steel Cloud 9 has a glass-ceilinged beach club. The glass is the bottom of the ample pool on the aft deck. The beach club is more than just a lounge, however. It has a conversation area, along with a bar, a gym, and a hammam (below). All 12 guests can therefore spread out and enjoy, or launch into the water from any of the three fold-down platforms.

From common areas to the six guest staterooms all on the main deck, Cloud 9 has a warm intimacy, as mentioned. Subtle, soothing tones from oak, ebony, and Jerusalem stone set the backdrop for family gatherings. Paszkowski and his regular interior partner Margherita Casprini worked closely with the owner, finding the process “exciting,” according to Paszkowski. “Our long-standing collaboration with the shipyard and our knowledge of the owner, for whom we had already designed a 46-meter in the past, allowed us to move into uncharted territory and create interiors with a distinctly contemporary feel.”
