A number of international yacht builders have U.S. offices, but they’re strictly yacht offices. What if you could discuss a new-construction project while simultaneously learning about floating villas to accompany them? The Meyer Yachts U.S. showroom not only makes it possible, but also affords you the chance to discuss renting an existing private island.
The showroom, in San Francisco, officially opens on April 18. It’s a joint venture with Private Islands Worldwide, which in turn is an endeavor by Vladi Private Islands and ACT Compass. The latter two companies are international real-estate brokers. Meyer Yachts, meanwhile, is the superyacht division of the Meyer Group, a renowned cruise-ship builder with headquarters in Germany. Meyer Group created Meyer Yachts in 2021.
Thus far, Meyer Yachts has a few buildable concepts for clients to consider. In fact, you’ll be able to see the One50 superyacht design (above) in the showroom. At 492 feet (150 meters) LOA and with a beam of 66 feet (20 meters), the project presents extraordinary spaces. Volume specifically comes in at 11,000 gross tons. Although she’ll be custom built, the design suggests popular creature comforts and conveniences like a large pool at the transom. Naturally, a large number of staterooms is possible, too. Most notably, though, Meyer Yachts will equip the One50 superyacht with fuel cells and battery banks. This proven propulsion technology should therefore permit a top speed of about 18½ knots, according to the shipyard.
Furthermore, Meyer Yachts has the Three05 concept (below), which it presented at last year’s Monaco Yacht Show, in the showroom. A 410-footer (125-meter), she similarly has commodious spaces, for up to 30 guests. She’ll further employ fuel cells and batteries for cleaner, proven propulsion. What makes her stand out more, however, is that she’s a megayacht complementing a floating villa. The Meyer Group has yet another division, Meyer Floating Solutions, which creates fine homes right on the water atop floating platforms or pilings. The Three05 concept calls for a 591-foot-long (180-meter-long) floating villa. It offers 22,604 square feet (2,100 square meters) of even more space for welcoming and entertaining guests. Also customized to your needs, you can have a helicopter landing area, dockage for guests’ boats, and more.
“Floating solutions are manufactured in a protected environment under industrial conditions, minimizing the impact on nature during construction and throughout their entire service life,” notes Thomas Weigend, the Meyer Group’s chief sales officer.
Farhad Vladi, a broker with Vladi Private Islands, agrees that minimal environmental impact is crucial. “Having your own private paradise surrounded by sparkling waters is the ultimate island dream for many,” he says. Since buyers often want to leave land untouched, “that’s why the concept of combining private islands and floating homes was born.”
If you’d prefer to rent occasionally, that’s possible, too. Singer Castle in New York’s famed 1,000 Islands is available through Vladi Private Islands, for example. Further off-market options for purchase are available as well. “We are receiving more and more enquiries from island seekers from the USA,” Vladi says. “That’s why we chose this location on the West Coast.”
