Dynamiq opened a shipyard for new construction in a popular Turkish port a few years ago. Now, the same site is where Dynamiq refit work will take place, regardless of what brand a yacht is.
In fact, Dynamiq is offering a wide range of refit and service options. These include seasonal maintenance, class-required surveys, detailed modifications, and intricate conversions. Additionally, Dynamiq refit capabilities are for projects to 213 feet (65 meters), the same size as the new builds from the shipyard.
The shipyard sits in the Antalya Free Zone in southern Turkey (above). Similar to a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) in the United States, this is a government-protected area benefitting from special tax exemptions. It therefore lowers costs for customers. The Dynamiq refit division received approval to begin operating earlier this year.
Already, one superyacht is taking advantage of the services. Currently, the yacht Jetsetter (above) is embarking on what the shipyard says is an intricate refit. She was the first Dynamiq delivery, too, a 127-footer (38.6-meter) from 2019. Her propulsion system will undergo an overhaul, for example, including the Reintjes pods (below). Naturally, Reintjes subcontractors will handle these tasks. Additionally, the owner of Jetsetter wants an interior upgrade. No specifics are yet available, however, on what that entails. The original interior design is by Bannenberg & Rowell.
Regardless, Dynamiq refit services tap the shipyard’s own in-house craftspeople, as well as a variety of subcontractors. The in-house team can handle stainless steel shaping and welding, for example, plus teak work. It further can produce a variety of interior-design components. In terms of subcontractors, since the Antalya Free Zone has several leading superyacht shipyards, companies from Germany and Italy have presences there. Turkish specialists do, too.
Finally, a 2,000-ton-capacity syncrolift on the premises means large yachts can haul out and relaunch with ease.
