The well-known privately guided travel specialist Kensington Tours has, for several years, also booked yacht charter vacations. Not surprisingly, it’s experienced an increase in client requests for charters, still with fully tailored experiences ashore. To better address these needs, the Kensington Yachts division is now a separate company. Simultaneously, it continues offering all-inclusive planning and expenses, from VIP excursions to charter crew tips.
Similar to traditional yacht charter brokers, Kensington Yachts has access to more than 3,000 charter motoryachts and sailing yachts globally. Naturally, these include superyachts, with rates from $40,000 per week to upwards of $200,000 per week. The staff further similarly works directly with yacht owners and their captains, on behalf of clients. This ensures it makes the right matches. Although some yacht charter brokers can arrange for VIP transportation, for example, or customized excursions, they work with third parties. “We go above and beyond by creating all other aspects of the yacht experience,” explains Edita Sgovio, vice president of Kensington Yachts. Therefore, all arrangements are in-house, “from privately guided land tours to exclusive dining opportunities, an exclusive villa portfolio, private jets, private transfers, insider access to highly sought after attractions, shopping, and more.”
Furthermore, Kensington Yachts provides these via all-inclusive packages. So, for instance, the rate covers not only the crewed yacht vacation, but also all food and beverage requests, crew gratuities, local taxes, dockage fees, and fuel. Additionally, it includes hotel accommodations, restaurant recommendations and reservations, activities and tours tailored according to the itinerary, and VIP airport pickup and drop off. Yet more benefits, optionally, are flight arrangements, whether via private jet or helicopter transfer.
Kensington Yachts arranges packages year-round, with high-profile events like the Paris Olympics currently of interest. Also of interest are charters tied to the Monaco Grand Prix (above), Cannes Film Festival, and Monaco Yacht Show. Some of the clients will enjoy a private cooking class at a restaurant with a Michelin-starred chef. Wine connoisseurs are looking forward to visiting hidden cellars and tasting champagne at the Plaza Athénée (top). VIP access to the Louvre museum is in store for others, as is taking the wheel of a Bugatti.
Several sample itineraries are on the website, including for Croatia, Italy, the Balearic Islands, and more popular areas.
