Yacht owners and charter guests treasure the Maldives for its spectacularly clear waters, extraordinary sea life, and stunning natural beauty. The two-year-old Patina Maldives resort in the Fari Islands has been offering cruisers the comforts of land when they dock at the Fari Marina Village. The resort now has yet another exclusive guest offering, the Ocean Pearl submersible. What’s more, specialists quite familiar with superyacht clientele operate this two-person sub. Not only can you enjoy amazing dives, but you can also contribute to environmental protection and furthering science.
Patina Maldives has partnered with Dive Butler International, which has been collaborating with private yachts for more than a decade. Dive Butler has earned accolades for taking owners and guests diving, plus teaching and certifying them. For the Ocean Pearl submersible, its staff has undergone training with SEAmagine, which further constructed the sub. SEAmagine’s subs service the leisure (including yachting), commercial, defense, and scientific sectors globally. In fact, collectively, its craft have completed upwards of 12,000 dives. Furthermore, SEAmagine originally created its pilot training program with the U.S. Coast Guard.
Each Ocean Pearl dive involves an onboard pilot and a surface pilot, for safety and a better overall experience. The two-person sub affords you a learning experience you otherwise would not get, especially due to the pilot’s marine-life knowledge. For example, Dive Butler’s staff can pilot the sub quite close to coral reefs, explaining more about the species living amid them. The large glass front of the sub allows discovering creatures above, below, and in front of you, unobstructed. From huge manta rays to sea turtles and more, sea life abounds.
For budding biologists and conservation-minded guests, Ocean Pearl is further special. Marine biologists and other environmental professionals are available to teach you about collecting data and documenting discoveries. Your contributions aid in their research, and efforts to preserve the region’s marine ecosystem. The research additionally benefits scientists and educators around the world who are studying the oceans.
“We invite all adventure-seekers, marine enthusiasts, and travelers to embark with us on an extraordinary and immersive journey,” says Antonio Saponara, the Patina Maldives general manager. “Ocean Pearl promises to deliver unforgettable memories and a profound sense of connection to our planet’s most treasured aquatic ecosystems.”
Alexis Vincent, founder of Dive Butler, notes that his team is providing submersible pilot training on site, too. Overall, he calls special attention to the resort’s “innovative approach to tourism” and its “unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and expanding this project’s impact beyond leisure into marine conservation.”
Ocean Pearl submersible dives start at $2,500 per hour. The team tailors all trips and experiences to your desires as well.
