Minutes from Washington, D.C., National Harbor Marina has been welcoming yachts and megayachts to 150 feet (about 45.7 meters) for some time. It’s now under the managerial umbrella of IGY Marinas, which should strengthen its megayacht marketshare in particular.
“National Harbor has become a major tourism destination and hot bed for new development projects, making it the perfect location for IGY Marinas to expand its presence in the area,” says Tom Mukamal, CEO of IGY Marinas. In fact, situated on the Potomac River in Maryland, the marina boasts views of the Capital Wheel (above). It’s also walking distance to outlet shops, plus dozens of bars and restaurants. Furthermore, the MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino, opening this December, is within walking distance. All of the District of Columbia’s monuments and museums are 15 minutes away, too. Plus, water taxis take guests to the historic waterfront of Alexandria, Virginia, plus the National Mall.
National Harbor Marina has more than 70 floating dock slips. Megayachts get side-to dockage. Draft should not be an issue for most motoryachts, given the nine-foot (2.7-meter) depth at low tide at the marina entrance and in the slips.
Customary IGY Marinas services will complement the existing National Harbor Marina offerings. Free wifi, a security gate with PIN code access, and fueling are available. So, too, is provisioning, delivered dockside from nearby markets and restaurants. IGY Marinas additionally plans to host events and philanthropic initiatives on site, as it does with its other properties.
