Complementing three other Latin American marinas in its portfolio, IGY Marinas begins overseeing Golfito Marina Village in Costa Rica in November.
Attracting megayachts and sportfishing yachts, Golfito Marina Village is in Golfito, Costa Rica’s southernmost port town. The region is additionally popular with surfers and eco-tourists. Whale watching, canopy tours, and a protected rainforest regularly attract visitors, too.
Hacienda El Dorado retains ownership of the facility. IGY Marinas is taking over marina operations and management, similar to its other Latin American holdings. Specifically, they are Marina Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, Red Frog Beach Island Marina in Panama, and Marina Santa Marta in Colombia.
With 50 slips, Golfito Marina Village is on a natural deep harbor. The controlled depth is 35 feet (11 meters), in fact. It’s also among the few private facilities globally capable of handling megayachts to about 500 feet (152 meters). Further consider there are no air-draft restrictions, and its fuel dock can pump 200 gallons per minute. Yet another reason megayachts head here, Golfito is outside of the hurricane zone. It’s the first available port when en route north from the Panama Canal, too. Finally, thanks to an agreement with a yacht-transport company, it’s the only pick-up and drop-off spot for western Central and South America.
Golfito Marina Village will draw upon a number of IGY Marinas advantages. For example, IGY Anchor Club Strategic Partners can provide emergency health services, travel arrangements, provisioning, and other assistance. The company will also help Golfito Marina Village fulfill expansion plans. Phase one completed last year. Ultimately it will have 135 slips and a service yard. Within the next two years, an eco-oriented hotel should open in the adjacent marina village. It will augment existing residences, a spa, and four restaurants.
