“The new Arrow USA office will allow our North American clients to do business with us on their terms, in or close to their own time zone,” says Yerin Hobson, CEO of the superyacht-management and construction company Arrow. For 25 years, the company has had headquarters solely in Europe—specifically, Monaco. This week, it opened its first-ever American office, in Fort Lauderdale. The choice of the city was deliberate, what Hobson calls “the hub of superyacht activity in the USA.”
While several management and construction companies work with international clients, Arrow does things a bit differently. It has a no-brokerage philosophy. In fact, it wholeheartedly embraces the concept. This, the team believes, allows it to be more independent and attentive to the ownership experience. Over its quarter-century history, the company has completed yachts across 36 countries.
Besides managing new builds and refits, it arranges surveys and oversees operational and safety management. Fiscal assistance is yet another service. Around-the-clock support for owners and captains is a source of pride for the company, too. Arrow asserts that other than luxury concierges, few professionals in general, not just in yachting, offer this level of accessibility for support issues.
Like its overseas office, Arrow USA offers a broad array of assistance. Alan Downs (pictured), the chief operating officer for the new location, is certainly familiar with what U.S. clients want. He’s spent the past seven years solely working with American-based owners, out of his total 34 years in yachting. Furthermore, over these past seven years, he’s worked with some of the largest and most well-known yachts globally. “We understand that our American clients want honesty and straightforward advice when it comes to helping them make decisions about their yachts,” Downs says.
