Bluewater, which offers yacht charter, sales, and management, as well as crew training and placement, has a first-ever base in the United States. Located in Fort Lauderdale, the office results from Bluewater partnering with CU Yacht Charters, Crew Unlimited, and International Crew Training.
Ami G. Ira, who has owned both CU Yacht Charters and Crew Unlimited for more than a decade, is now president of Bluewater USA. Brian Luke, president of International Crew Training for the past three years, is switching gears to serve as a sales broker for Bluewater. He’s been with International Crew Training since 2008 in a few roles.
Bluewater itself dates back 25 years. Until now, it has solely been in Europe, Asia, and Russia. Specifically, the offices are in Antibes, Palma, Davos, Hong Kong, and Moscow. The staff at each location specialize in the range of the company’s services.
Bringing Crew Unlimited and International Crew Training into the fold is a particularly noteworthy move. Bluewater says it’s the only firm that can provide crew recruited and trained in-house for brokerage yachts or charters. Along those lines, Luke sees strong potential for the International Crew Training students especially. “I am very excited that our students will not only have more opportunity across the globe for high-level training, but now we can offer them crew placement,” he says.
“The combination of our companies and talents is so exciting for us,” Ira adds. “We have worked with and admired the Bluewater team for years. It feels like ‘coming home’ for me, as I know their people, (and) their work ethic.”
