If you’re as attached to your sports car as much as we think you are, you’re the right customer for Otam’s newest new maxi open, the Otam 85 GTS. It brings in styling influences from the supercar sector.
At 85’5” (26.05 meters) overall, the Otam 85 GTS does this notably in the hardtop. It has gullwing sections along a central support. As seen here, when they’re down, the Otam 85 GTS lends a little shade. The builder says little turbulence results, too. Once you’re at anchor, you can raise the gullwings, for an even more open maxi open.
The design comes from Umberto Tagliavini Marine Design & Services as well as R+P Architecture. The latter company was already collaborating with Otam on the Otam Custom Range.
Interestingly, the two design studios and Otam will give clients a good deal of input into space arrangements as well as technical systems. So, for example, you can have three staterooms or four. You can also choose between a giant sunpad occupying the foredeck or a cozy dining/drinks spot. Or, why choose? Combine them, as shown in the rendering above.
Also as shown, in both renderings, the Otam 85 GTS emphasizes enjoying the sun and sea as much as possible. Generous sunbathing space aft complements cascading steps spanning the nearly 20-foot (6-meter) beam. They practically beckon you to step down to the swim platform, too, and dive on in.
When it’s time to haul the anchor, the Otam 85 GTS promises to make quick work of heading for the horizon. Two engine packages are available. Twin 2,600-hp MTUs should let the megayacht hit a thrilling top speed of 45 knots under one-third load. Cruising should be an equally thrilling 35 knots. Alternatively, select the twin 1,925-hp Caterpillars. You’ll go a little slower, but not remotely slow: reportedly 38 knots max and 32 knots at cruise. Either way, Arneson surface drives come with the package.
