Pitched as an expedition yacht or a support vessel, the PY Heritage is the result of a first-time collaboration between an Italy-based builder and design studio. Furthermore, she pays homage to a renowned designer who left an indelible mark before his passing about 25 years ago.
The 148-foot (45-meter) PY Heritage comes from the drawing boards of Zuccon International Project. She’ll spring from Perini Navi Group’s Picchiotti shipyard upon contract. As mentioned above, she can be a global explorer, or serve a support role, the latter for Perini Navi owners. As for the late designer being celebrated, he’s Gerhard Gilgenast. He penned the lines of a number of well-known megayachts in the 1980s. They include TM Blue One, built by Picchiotti and delivered in 1988. Gilgenast died in 1991.
Some of Gilgenast’s projects stood out for their linear nature. Later projects, like TM Blue One, incorporated more curves. PY Heritage combines the styles, while still looking like a contemporary creation. So, too, does PY Heritage combine modern elements of Perini Navi launches with ones from Picchiotti.
Due to the dual potential purpose, PY Heritage makes abundant room outside for stowing watertoys. Zuccon International Project says two 29-foot (9-meter) tenders can go forward, in fact, along with two PWCs. When the toys are in the water, the foredeck frees up for extra lounging.
That also frees up a good deal of lower-deck space. Since there’s no tender garage, PY Heritage offers owners their own sea-level suite. Naturally, Zuccon International Project envisions it being fully aft, with the stern folding down. Guest accommodations flow forward from here.
Future owners and guests will particularly like the tremendous headroom inside, however. A full 9’8” (three meters) of headroom characterizes the main deck. Making it feel even more commodious: extensive use of glass.
As you would expect, Zuccon International Project has suggested configurations for the saloon (above) as well as other interior areas. Buyers are, of course, free to tailor everything to their tastes.
