UPDATE, JUNE 16, 2017: Book Ends is now en route to Gibraltar to welcome her owners for their first cruise. Read on for our original article.
Started as Project Ruya, Heesen hull number 17947 now carries the name Book Ends. Heesen revealed the news, with the images here, via Facebook.
Pictured at left above, with another about-to-be-delivered Heesen, Home, Book Ends sold to an American buyer just a few weeks ago. The megayacht is the latest in the Dutch yard’s successful 47M displacement series. In fact, she’s lucky number 13. The steel-hulled Book Ends should therefore achieve a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, plus have a 15-knot top speed.
While there was a short amount of time between when the owner acquired her and her planned completion date, Book Ends still does have tailored touches. The owner requested some personalization to the interior design. We don’t have specifics on what the changes were. However, the original look, by Bannenberg & Rowell Design, mixes multiple materials, including what co-founder Dickie Bannenberg terms “sporty, high-tech finishes.” The overall effect should create a light atmosphere, while simultaneously making a bold statement. Heesen provided a sneak peek at the interior below.
Whatever the owner decided to do, one thing is certain. The party of 10 who can cruise aboard Book Ends have attractive options inside and out to enjoy. For instance, the sundeck beckons, due to encompassing 915 square feet (85 square meters). Lounging and dining are possible up here. For closer-to-the-water fun, the crew can launch PWCs from the tender garage, plus the primary tender.
Look for Book Ends to cruise the Med for the rest of the summer. She’ll then make her formal boat-show debut at the Monaco Yacht Show come the end of September. If you can’t make it to Monaco, you’ll get to book an appointment at the Fort Lauderdale show in November.
