Does a crewmember aboard your yacht lend aid in the communities you visit? Do guests roll up their sleeves to make a positive environmental impact? Do you or someone you know welcome scientists onboard to conduct much-needed scientific research? Whatever the inspiring story, the Superyacht Life Foundation and the Monaco Yacht Show want to hear it. They’re reminding owners, crew, and industry professionals to submit nominations for The Honours superyacht awards. Submissions are open until March 31.
The Superyacht Life Foundation announced these superyachting change-maker awards last September. The awards ceremony, set for September 26 in Monaco, is part of an overall effort to ensure the good going on gets more public recognition. This, in turn, helps new people learn about the world of superyachts. As Dilan Sarac, the Superyacht Life Foundation’s executive director, explains, “This is the perfect opportunity for the superyacht industry to recognize the very best of itself and to tell the positive stories of the nominees and Honourees to the wider world.”
Gaëlle Tallarida, the Monaco Yacht Show’s managing director, agrees. “We believe The Honours will be a new milestone in superyachting’s history, as this will be the very first award ceremony that distinguishes people behind the scene of yachting,”
Nominees for The Honours superyacht awards can be anyone who enjoys yacht ownership or travel, who works in the industry, or is otherwise connected to the industry. Therefore, not only are owners potential candidates, but so, too, are charter guests, crewmembers, scientists, inventors, and others. As long as someone has done something within the past five years of significant positive impact within yachting, he or she is eligible. So, for example, a crewmember who’s elevating diversity and inclusion in the industry is worthy. Specialists who prioritize inspirational exploration alongside cultural understanding are as well. Yet another good nominee is an individual pioneering technological advancements to make yachts more efficient. Those promoting ocean conservation and developing communities are further good nominees. Ultimately, The Honours strives to recognize remarkable people with remarkable stories. The achievements, versus their number of nominations, are most important.
An independent panel of superyacht-industry professionals will evaluate the nominees. They’ll choose three winners to receive Bowsprit awards (top) at The Honours ceremony, which will feature a special touch. As each winner gets recognition, his or her story will play out via storytelling, including film.
