In 2012, a handful of friends in the megayacht business realized they each derived great satisfaction from supporting charitable organizations. They therefore banded together in England to pool their resources for common causes. What started as an idea is now a registered foundation, Superyacht Charities. It’s responsible for donating more than $200,000 to various groups in just the past two years, in fact. While it may be an ocean away, you can help contribute to the cause at the upcoming Superyacht Charities Ball–and win a beautiful timepiece for yourself or someone special. The Superyacht Charities Ball is raffling off a handmade watch worth more than $30,000.
A minimum donation of £50 ($62) gets you an entry into the raffle, being held April 1 at the gala. The watch is from the Tefnut range of watchmaker Moritz Grossman. While the brand is just four years old, its timepieces are limited editions. Furthermore, the watch offered in the raffle is made of rose gold, available in both men’s and women’s versions. (Naturally, the winner of the raffle receives the appropriate type.) The retail value: £25,000 ($31,000 at press time). You do not need to attend the Superyacht Charities Ball to win.
Whether you can or can’t attend, rest assured that the Superyacht Charities Ball funds all go to worthy causes. This year, the beneficiaries are Sail 4 Cancer and Turn to Starboard. The former treats families affected by cancer to water-based trips, whether just for the day or a few days. As for Turn to Starboard, it, too, brings water into play. The organization supports current and retired Armed Forces personnel and their families through a variety of sailing- and marine-related opportunities.
To secure your raffle spot, buy a ticket online before March 31.
