Picturesque—and perfect for sailing—Palma de Mallorca is the backdrop for this slice of life at sea. Lush isn’t the first of the Oyster 885 sailing superyacht series, but her attitude and aptitude embody the luxury and performance customers come to expect.
As hull number one, she belonged to F1 commentator and yachting enthusiast Eddie Jordan a decade ago. Current Oyster Yachts CEO and owner, Richard Hadida, acquired her from Jordan after about two years. Upon acquiring the shipyard in 2018, though, Hadida decided that Lush should serve as a sort of brand ambassador. Therefore, he had her embark upon a thorough refit, which finished up two years ago.
The 88’10” (27.08-meter) yacht primarily shows off her sailing prowess here. Part of that comes from a sail area of 4,214 square feet (391.5 square meters). Additionally, it comes from naval architecture by Humphreys Yacht Design. The studio and shipyard have long said that the Oyster 885 series is for passagemaking on the open ocean—and she proves it. Indeed, throughout this video, you hear just the soft sounds of the water as the hull cuts through it. Keep in mind, too, that under Jordan’s ownership, the yacht sailed nearly non-stop.
Luxury yachts are for luxurious living and relaxing, of course. To that end, Lush gives you a few hints at what lies in store aboard the Oyster 885 series. The cockpit caters to long lunches as easily as it does cocktails. Eight of you can gather around the fold-out table, which sits atop a refrigerator. Forward, meanwhile, fill the sunken tender bay with cushions when the toy is in the water. Shade the area with a bimini, too, for an all-day leisure zone. Fully aft, go swimming or dry off on the aft deck.
Lush lends you just a glimpse at her interior, but keep in mind that amid the 20’9” (6.33-meter) beam, you can seat 10 for formal dinners. For less-formal gatherings, turn the table into a daybed, and spread out as you watch movies on the TV. Regardless of your preferred pursuits, the Oyster 885 offers a variety of layout options, with four staterooms standard. Two crew cabins are standard, too, with dedicated access to the deck.
From Palma de Mallorca to Palm Beach, passagemaking can be yours.
