A spectacular light show welcomed the yacht Extra Time when she left her construction shed in Poland earlier this month. Her builder, Conrad Shipyard, felt it was only fitting for a project belonging to a successful superyacht series.
The yacht Extra Time is hull number two in the Conrad C144 range. Hull number one was the yacht Ace, which saw delivery last year. She therefore shares the same naval architecture and exterior design teams, namely Diana Yacht Design and Reymond Langston.
Since the series is semi-custom, naturally the owners have been able to make special requests. Interestingly, they were inspired by the looks of Ace. That explains why the Italian design studio m2atelier, which contributed to Ace, collaborated with them for the interior areas. Overall, the look and feel of saloons and the five staterooms is subtle. Nothing screams for attention, and nothing will compete for attention when the owners and their guests get together. It’s in keeping with the idea behind the name, spending extra time in good company. Some of the very first extra time will be in the South of France, in fact.
Sea trials won’t be for several more weeks. However, her semi-displacement steel hull should permit cruising at 11 knots. Best range should be 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. Additionally, the yacht Extra Time has a relatively shallows-friendly draft of eight feet (2.45 meters).
The formal christening ceremony is in mid-April. Conrad Shipyard is simultaneously looking to the future of the C144 series. Already, hull number three is well into her construction process. She should see completion next year. Additionally, Conrad Shipyard has hull number four in build, and available for sale.
