The yacht Saint Nicholas will have sparkling new amenities for her owners and guests in time for next winter’s cruising and charter season. She’ll be spending the next eight months in Germany at Abeking & Rasmussen, undergoing extensive modifications.
The 230-footer (70-meter) cruised into the refit division of the shipyard, A&R Services, on February 20. The next time she’s back on the river there, she should look quite different. For instance, her swim platform will be significantly longer. The sundeck, meanwhile, will have a new spa and a gym. Further dramatic changes will be taking place throughout the interior, too. However, neither A&R Services nor the contributing design companies are revealing details at this point.
Regardless, the design studios involved in the refit of the yacht Saint Nicholas are multi-national. They’re additionally handling different task lists. Murray & Associates, the well-known U.S. naval-architecture firm, is responsible for the swim platform design and engineering. Pascoli International, which focuses on naval architecture, too, along with styling, is designing the exterior changes. (That said, the changes will complement the longstanding original styling by Espen Øino.) Yet another American firm, Patrick Knowles Designs, is collaborating with the owners to bring their vision inside the yacht to reality.
Notably, the yacht Saint Nicholas just sold last fall, and cruised on a private-only basis, meaning no charter. She launched in 2007 at Lürssen, significantly as one of the most voluminous in her size range: upwards of 1,900 gross tons.
“This refit project represents a significant milestone for A&R Services,” says Daniel Reichwald, its managing director. He adds that the team looks forward to “revitalizing this iconic motoryacht.”
