La dolce vita, or the sweet life, is the goal of every boater and yacht owner, when you think about it. Riva and Riva owners, though, believe in taking it to a higher level. The owner of the Riva 130 Bellissima yacht Janus Navum, hull number one in the series, is experiencing it now.
Being a content previous Riva customer, naturally the owner stepped up to this flagship for the brand. Immediately, all the hallmarks of a Riva are evident, particularly the curving superstructure and exposed carbon fiber outside. Inside, high-gloss rosewood covers practically every square inch of surface, even overheads. Further in keeping with Riva tradition, polished stainless steel and contrasts of light and dark tones flow from room to room. Simply put, it is impossible to confuse the yacht Janus Navum for anything but a Riva.
The trick for Riva and Officina Italiana Design, however, was ensuring the 130 Bellissima series didn’t look or feel “just” like a bigger version of its other models. She needed to capture the flair and amenities expected of a megayacht, One way is by being a trideck—a true trideck—in 130 feet (39 meters) of length. This affords an owners and guests head count of 10 plenty of social space and private areas, too. It further affords professional crew discrete ways to handle their duties yet still engage with passengers when both parties want it.
The way that spaces unfold throughout the decks is important, too. Since cruising aboard a Riva means indulging in alfresco living, the beach club and main aft deck are really one big terraced area. In fact, they spread over more than 646 square feet (60 square meters). Better yet, the beach club doesn’t double as a tender garage. Instead, toys stow in a separate compartment just forward. Yet another feature of this large alfresco lounge: The gangway doubles as swim stairs, with wide treads.
Whether the yacht is at anchor or cruising at 23 knots—speed being another Riva hallmark—the owner and guests have even more outdoor areas to enjoy. The owner of the yacht Janus Navum chose a dining area for 10 on the upper deck. It’s easy to imagine lunches up here, followed by sunning up one more deck, and transitioning mere steps away to cocktails. Privacy-seeking guests can stretch out on the bow’s sunpad while others are playing with the SeaBobs and other watertoys.
“The success this model is reporting is a credit to Riva’s commitment to always designing boats that navigate both in legend and in the future,” declares Alberto Galassi, Ferretti Group’s CEO. Of course, CEOs are always proud of their brands’ launches. But there’s certainly something to say about the 130 Bellissima carrying Riva into the future, while honoring her past.
