Stretching nearly 230 feet (70 meters), the steel hull and aluminum superstructure for the CRN M/Y 145 project undertook her first cruise, of sorts. The joined structures made their way on a barge from their welding and assembly facility to the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, Italy. Currently under cover, she’ll spend about two more years there before delivery.
The megayacht, also known as Project Thunderball, will support diving, fishing, and enjoying regattas, among other things, on completion. Specifically, she’ll spend most of her time in the Med and venturing back and forth between Florida and the Bahamas. Since her owner is a sailing enthusiast, the yacht will even carry a sailboat as a tender.
Suitably, the profile of CRN M/Y 145 also shows off sailboat style. The design team at Vripack accordingly kept her five decks looking lower-slung than you might ordinarily expect. Marnix Hoekstra, co-creative director of Vripack, explains, “Our focus was on delivering a yacht that guarantees highly economical cruising and a soft and comfortable ride, all of which is made possible by our most efficient hull lines to date and our sailing experience.” A rich-blue paint job eventually will augment her classic character, including her long bow.
Complementing this, Nauta Design is working with the owner to ensure the interior is timeless yet also has contemporary appeal. Although specifics aren’t available, generally speaking the designers are striving to incorporate nods to the seagoing lifestyle. The owner intends to enjoy long periods onboard.
In the meantime, CRN is beginning the process of installing machinery, including a peak-shaving system to save electrical use and fuel consumption. Furthermore, the craftspeople are dividing the decks into the various rooms, like the 12 staterooms for guests. Fifteen crew and the captain will have cabins aboard, too.
Look for launch of this 1,100-gross-ton project in 2026.
