When Ferretti Yachts coined the phrase “further than you can sea” for its new Infynito range, it might have sounded like marketing-speak. However, the Ferretti Yachts Infynito 90 yacht layout shakes up not only the shipyard’s tradition, but also typical yacht design across the industry.
The builder positions the entry-level megayacht model, designed with Filippo Salvetti, as an extension of home, for customers enjoying long-range cruising. The 89-footer (27-meter) reportedly can cover 1,400 nautical miles at 10 knots, with either of the two MAN engine packages. Top speed is upwards of 20 knots, a swift pace Ferretti Yachts customers expect. A fuel-saving energy bank fed by solar panels atop the superstructure should allow buyers to remain at anchor with air conditioning and other hotel loads running up to eight hours. In fact, the yard anticipates the Ferretti Yachts Infynito 90 yacht under typical use from May to September will consume 80 percent less fuel than if she relied on a genset. Equally important, the yard custom-designed two watertight steel containers with temperature sensors for the batteries. Sea water automatically pumps in if the sensors detect a possible fire. A separate ventilation system maintains their temperature, too.
In terms of the layout, the Ferretti Yachts Infynito 90 yacht opens up, literally, areas that previously had little or no connection to the outside. Additionally, the project re-imagines bow lounges. Hull number one has a country kitchen forward opposite a casual dining area, both benefitting from a window looking out over the aptly named All-Season Terrace. It’s a better name than bow lounge, especially given the louvered glass panels overhead, along with the cozy seating area, hot tub, and sunpad. Optionally, buyers can have a solid hardtop overhead, electrically lowering windows, a cocktail bar with four barstools, or sunlounges. Options are available inside, too, though it’s hard to imagine owners giving up the window, which affords uninterrupted views from the aft deck. One option is an enclosed galley with crew access to port, while the other option is a full-beam master suite.
The owner of hull number one went with the master suite below decks, still full beam. Three guest staterooms complement this, whereas four guest staterooms fill out the lower deck if buyers choose the main-deck master. Yet another possibility for the lower deck: making the starboard-side guest stateroom a multi-purpose room, like an extra TV/movie lounge or a gym.
Regardless, further options characterize the interior. Ferretti Yachts selected Ideaeitalia for interior design, and the studio created two décor packages. Firstly, the Classic mood uses earthy tones, for a warm setting. Secondly, the Contemporary décor picks up colors from the sea for fabrics. Importantly, each emphasizes natural materials like bamboo as well as recycled and repurposed materials, including leather. (The latter is especially prominent on the open slats framing the central stairway.) Each also employs FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council) woods and water-based paints.
Finally, the Ferretti Yachts Infynito 90 yacht design breaks with the shipyard’s tradition of open flying-bridge projects. Instead, she has a skylounge. The owner further wanted this leisure area to have some privacy from the wheelhouse, and vice versa. Therefore, it’s closed off, though Ferretti Yachts has an open configuration, too. Regardless, the skylounge can be an extra lounge for enjoying TV or a dining area. It flows straight out aft to a sunning and/or alfresco dining area as well.
With a Williams DieselJet 415 tender standard in the toy garage, the Ferretti Yachts Infynito 90 certainly challenges convention. But she does so in ways beneficial to life onboard.
