Water safe to drink and for sanitary needs is a crisis in many countries, including the United States. Water.org has provided it to tens of millions globally. This is one of several reasons why Northrop & Johnson has pledged to support the non-profit.
Water.org got its start in 2009, following the teaming of actor Matt Damon and entrepreneur Gary White. White previously founded WaterPartners International in 1990 with a similar mission. To date, Water.org has helped 45 million people worldwide get access to potable water, water for toilets, and other needs. It does this with the assistance of 155 partners, who provide physical as well as financial resources. Still, though, the non-profit says 771 million people lack this access. That’s approximately equivalent to one in 10 citizens.
Daniel Ziriakus, Northrop & Johnson’s president and COO, emphasizes how important it is “to ensure life-sustaining water is available to all those who need it.” Although the company isn’t yet specifying all details, overall, it will partner with Water.org for fundraisers and events. Employees will play important roles in further fundraising initiatives. Additionally, Northrop & Johnson will donate part of its quarterly profits to the organization.
“The organization’s core values and philanthropic missin speak to the hearts and souls of all NoJos,” Ziriakus says. “We are honored to be able to help those in need.”
