A letter from Diane M. Byrne, editor
Notice anything different about our website? To borrow a phrase or two from fashion parlance, we’re not just dressed to the nines, we’re dressed to kill. The new Megayacht News is not just a new design. It’s an entirely new experience, especially for yachting enthusiasts who cannot properly engage with other websites.
While we’ve updated and redesigned Megayacht News over the years, I felt strongly that we needed to overhaul our logo. Upon initial glance, some of you surely see a yacht cutting through the waves. Or, you immediately notice what appears to be the covers of a magazine, above those golden waves.
You’re both correct.
Megayacht News is, after all, a media outlet focused on yachting news. The new logo unites those two concepts. Secondly, we’re using a modern-vintage design aesthetic for the new Megayacht News logo to bring together yachting’s classic and contemporary luxury.
The new Megayacht News invites you to discover even more about your preferred (or newly adopted) pastime. For example, when you select a subcategory like Motoryachts or Sailing Yachts, you’ll see a striking handful of related stories in a pop-out menu to the right. We do this for every single subcategory, in fact. This way, you don’t have to hunt to find the latest news you may have missed.
While hunting for content is a turn-off, worse is a website that is hard to read and navigate. Thanks to our web-development team, I learned that a lot of websites are not reasonably accessible for people with certain visual and/or auditory impairments. These individuals use assistive technologies to read online content—and our former site was incompatible with these. Problem now solved. Related to this, we’ve been including transcripts of each of our Megayacht News Radio podcasts for several months. It allows those with auditory impairments to read along as they listen, for more complete understanding.
Many of you have been loyal readers for several years now. For that, I thank you. Please take the time to look around the new Megayacht News and let me know what you think.
