While she figuratively turned a page in the story of her build process, the Numarine 40MXP yacht literally took a turn. Specifically, her hull turning occurred within the past few days, signaling the start of outfitting.
With three contracts already in hand for the series, Numarine is even more confident that the new flagship speaks to particular cruisers. The 128-footer (39-meter) has what it calls “a Mediterranean explorer ethos.” Briefly, this means more alfresco, beach-club-style amenities than the shipyard’s other explorers and a range of 6,000 nautical miles at 8 knots. Even “MXP” in the Numarine 40MXP yacht model name stands for “Mediterranean Explorer.”
The project delivers these amenities in several ways. Firstly, the build and design teams used the long-range Numarine 37XP as the basis, adding a few feet. Some of this space benefits the main aft deck. But, the main aft deck is further longer because the saloon entry is farther forward by nearly 10 feet (3 meters) in comparison to the 37XP. Owners and guests not only get a bigger outdoor dining area, but also lounging space surrounding an infinity pool. Add in a hydraulic swim platform mere feet away, and there’s expansive relaxation and entertainment space.
Other notable lifestyle-oriented features are for those who like being outdoors but don’t want to be in full sun. Biminis naturally can cover the open-air seating section as well as the pool. However, the shipyard offers a longer overhang from the deck above, too. While Numarine anticipates this will appeal especially to buyers in the Middle East and Australia, sun-conscious Americans may appreciate it as well. So far there’s no word on how many of the owners have opted for the extension.
Customers are, though, opting for other things. For instance, the first two sets of Numarine 40MXP yacht owners have requested the Tier III-compliant 900-hp MAN powerplants. A pair of 800-hp MANs is the standard package. Additionally, all of the owners are personalizing the interiors to reflect their and their family’s lifestyles. This applies to the full-beam VIP staterooms below as much as the similarly full-beam master suite on the main deck. It also applies to the lounges, plus outdoor stowage areas like the boat deck. Generally speaking, the Numarine 40MXP yacht can handle three PWCs, a 29-foot (9-meter) tender, and more.
With hull turning complete, the first Numarine 40MXP yacht remains on schedule for premiere next year.
